Chancellor Gooch: UIS expanding ways students can learn beyond classrooms

"In her eight months on the job, University of Illinois Springfield Chancellor Janet L. Gooch has been keenly aware of the institution's presence in the capital city.
Gooch, who was formally invested as chancellor during a ceremony at Sangamon Auditorium Wednesday, said she has challenged UIS to expand ways students can learn beyond the classroom, including through civic engagement.

"Today, 50 years since that class graduated, PAR remains a signature program at the University of Illinois Springfield. The 10-month program begins with a semester of classwork followed by an internship where students cover the Illinois legislature and other aspects of state government for a professional news outlet.
Local university providing cannabis workforce training

"Cannabis sales in the state of Illinois increased by 13% in FY2022.
The University of Illinois Springfield partnered with Green Flower, a training platform for cannabis professionals. They offer four different certificate programs: healthcare & medicine, cannabis compliance & risk management, law & policy, business, and agriculture & horticulture.
