UIS Men’s Cross Country Aims for Top Finish at Midwest Regional
The Illinois Springfield men's cross country team heads to the NCAA DII Midwest Regional Championship on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Lewis Cross Country Course in Romeoville, Ill. The Prairie Stars will compete for a top-three finish to secure an automatic bid to nationals or aim for an at-large selection to continue their postseason run.
Prairie Stars Volleyball Sweeps Bearcats
The UIS volleyball team picked up another win on Friday night as they swept McKendree at TRAC. With the win, the Prairie Stars improved to 16-8 overall with a 6-4 record in the GLVC. The Bearcats drop to 9-14 overall with a 4-6 conference record.

UIS public health student wins national award at conference
Zainab Yaseen, a master of public health student at the University of Illinois Springfield, received the national award for best master’s-level abstract at the American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting and Expo 2024.
The conference, held Oct. 27-30 in Minneapolis, brought together more than 13,000 public health professionals from over 40 countries under the theme “Rebuilding Trust in Public Health and Science.”

The UIS men's soccer team is set to kick off their postseason journey in the GLVC Quarterfinals this Sunday. The Prairie Stars will face Maryville at 1:30 p.m. in St. Louis, aiming to advance in the conference tournament.

The UIS women's soccer team starts their postseason journey in the GLVC Quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon. The Prairie Stars will travel to Lebanon, Ill. to take on the McKendreeBearcats at 12:00 p.m.

UIS finished the season sixth in the GLVC standings, marking a program-best with eight conference wins and 25 points. This is the fourth appearance for UIS in the GLVC postseason and third-straight.
