UIS Center for State Policy and Leadership to showcase its important work
The University of Illinois Springfield’s Center for State Policy and Leadership (CSPL) will discuss the important work it’s doing to promote the public good during its annual showcase event on Thursday, Sept. 14 in the UIS Student Union Ballroom. The event will begin at 8 a.m. with networking and a breakfast, followed by the program from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

James Edward Baker (2023)
Dr. Baker enjoyed careers in air freight, real estate, newspaper, education, and renewable energy retiring in 2021. After working in air freight transportation and as an independent real estate appraiser, Ed spent 18 years in the newspaper industry. He introduced them to the Internet—replacing advertising, editorial, business, and composing systems and their 300+ dummy terminals with integrated PC workstations and digital pagination.

Jack Buerkett
Hometown: Springfield, IllinoisMajor: Communication
Jack Buerkett chose the University of Illinois Springfield in order to earn a University of Illinois 69ÂÜÀòapp on a smaller campus. Buerkett is the president of Campus Movement, a Christian ministry group that hosts fun events through the year, and a resident assistant for UIS Residence Life. When asked what he likes most about UIS he said being a part of Campus Movement and seeing its impact on students.
