Message from the Chancellor: An honor to join you
7.5.22
Dear UIS Faculty and Staff —
It is my great honor to begin my work as your new UIS Chancellor. Last week, I worked alongside interim Chancellor Karen Whitney, who has led this university so capably and enthusiastically over the past two years. I greatly appreciate Dr. Whitney for serving as interim chancellor during such a challenging and transformative time, and for creating a positive momentum that will keep UIS thriving in the years to come.

Nancy Cano chose the University of Illinois Springfield “for the small campus that would allow me to have more connections with the faculty and students,” she said. On campus, she is the marketing chair for the Baile Monarcas, a Latinx dance group. She is also a member of the Campus Child Advocates and the Art Club. Asked what she most likes about UIS, she said “besides the small community, I really like the koi fish pond.”
