SPRINGFIELD,  IL.  (November  7,  2019)  –  The  UIS  Speech  and  Debate  Team  traveled  to  Owensboro,  KY  to  compete  in  the  Kentucky  Swing  Tournament.  This  competition  was  hosted  jointly  by  Owensboro  Community  and  Technical  College  and  Transylvania  University.  A  ‘swing’  competition  is  one  in  which  two  tournaments  take  place  back-to-back  on  the  same  weekend.</div>

SPRINGFIELD,  IL.  (December  10,  2019)  –  The  UIS  Speech  and  Debate  Team  returned  to  Webster  University  to  compete  in  the  2019  Gateway  Swing  Tournament.  This  competition  provides  competitors  with  the  opportunity  to  compete  in  eleven  different  speech  events  and  parliamentary  debate.



Senior  Sarah  Burris  represented  UIS  at  this  competition.  She  spoke  in  four  different  event:  after  dinner  speaking,  impromptu  speaking,  poetry  interpretation,  and  program  oral  interpretation.</div>
