The following are major site prepation and construction priorities for Library Commons each month.

August 2025

• Foundation work, including drilling for support columns, began.
• As more employees and students return to campus for the fall semester, please use caution when near the construction area and strongly consider our alternate walking routes through the Quad as additional foundation and steel work continue.
  • Employees working and students living near the construction area for Library Commons (i.e., Homer L. Butler Commons - Housing Office and Bluebell Court) may experience disruptions and noise as this project progresses.
  • Stay tuned for announcements regarding impacts on move-in operations for residents in Bluebell Court.

July 2025

• Temporary fencing was installed around the construction site and Parking Lot A-North. Pedestrian sidewalks remain open.
• Signs were added along campus roads to guide construction traffic and ensure main campus streets remain accessible.
• Utility markers (i.e., small, colored flags) were placed around the construction site to indicate where it鈥檚 safe for crews to dig.
• Construction crews typically work between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. throughout the summer. Work hours may change in the fall.
• Electrical crews installed temporary power for the construction site and began removing some sidewalks and light poles.
• Plumbing crews began underground sewer work. Large equipment and concrete pipes were delivered.
• Tree removal and ground leveling began.
