WUIS Building - Restroom Renovation
Say good-bye to the old flooring and toilet stools in the restrooms of the WUIS building! A combination of F&S crews and external contractors are replacing the floors and stool fixtures, as well as patching and painting the walls. Material shortages and unexpected conditions have forced changes to the scope of work, which in turn have caused delays, but the final outcome will be a nice improvement.

11.13.22 Update Facilities and Services has encountered an unforeseen聽issue with the flooring installation at WUIS. The condition of the subfloor requires extensive grinding to prepare it for the installation of the new flooring. This is a very time-consuming process that we anticipate will push the reopening of the restrooms to the middle of next week, November 16 or 17. We apologize for the continued inconvenience, and every effort will be made to reopen the restrooms as quickly as possible. Sent on behalf of Ravneet Chhokar, Director of Safety and Environmental Compliance Students, Faculty, and Staff, The annual fire drills remaining for this year will be conducted on Friday October 28 and Friday November 4 for the UIS campus. Drill Procedures Facilities and Services crews will perform a critical repair to the plumbing system on the 1st floor of the Health & Sciences Building (HSB) this Saturday, Oct. 22, from approximately 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. 聽 We anticipate that water service will remain on through the duration of the repair. Thank you, A contractor will be on campus, Saturday, Oct. 15, for work on the HSB roof. This effort will involve the use of a crane, which will be placed on the east聽side聽of the building.聽Markers and barricades will be used to cordon off the area where the crane will be located. Please do not enter the 3rd聽floor of HSB during this time. Signs will be placed on the stairwells as a reminder. Work using the crane is expected to take most of the day. The corridors and stairwells of UHB will be painted during the last two weeks of October.
