The Civil Service Advisory Council is launching a new initiative to provide mentors for new employees and employees starting in new positions. The Mentorship Program will have two segments for employees to utilize and contribute to; Onboarding and Resource. It is important to note that this program is not designed to replace or circumvent current University and unit training.

Recently, the University Senates Conference put together an educational document designed to inform University of Illinois System employees about the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and the UIS Campus Senate is working with pertinent stakeholders on campus to distribute the information to all employees.
UIS is committed to protecting minors that visit campus so they can enjoy the wonderful events and programs our community offers. For departments that want to offer programs to minors, our Protection of Minors page has detailed information on planning and hosting an event for young visitors.
The UIS Police Department presents training classes on ways to minimize your risk during an active shooter / active threat incident. The next class will be on Thursday, October 5th, at 10:00am in Brookens Auditorium. The class will be approximately 1 hour in length. These classes will help you prepare for an active shooter incident and provide a forum to ask questions so you may become better educated on the actions that you can take to stay safe during this type of critical incident.

Protect yourself and others by getting your flu shot this year! UIS Health Services and the Sangamon County Department of Public Health are offering flu shots to the UIS community from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4 and 9 a.m.-noon on Wednesday, Nov. 8, located in the UIS Performing Arts Center 1st Floor Board Room (formerly PAC E).
The annual ethics training window will begin soon. Please watch for an email on September 29 with the training link and instructions coming from the Executive Director of University Ethics and Compliance (ethicsofficer@uillinois.edu).
