Kiara Hobbs awarded a $28,000 scholarship to attend the University of Illinois Springfield
Kiara Hobbs of Riverton, Illinois has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for Fall Semester 2024 and awarded a $28,000 Capital Scholars Honors Program Scholarship for tuition over four years. At UIS, she plans to major in criminology and criminal justice.
The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements.
In high school, Hobbs was involved in Key Club, band, choir, and student council.
Olivia Lett Takes the Helm of UIS Women’s Basketball Program
UIS Athletics has named Olivia Lett as the new head coach of the University of Illinois Springfield Women's Basketball Program. Lett will become the program's tenth head coach. Her appointment is subject to approval by the U of I Board of Trustees.

Colonnade Stonework - The repair and restoration of the stonework will be done this summer. Work will include the replacement of irreparable stone along with the filling of cracks and crevices to prevent further damage by water and ice.
Clover 100 & 200 Exterior Renovations - Bids are being sought to renovate the building exteriors of the 100 and 200 buildings in Clover Court. Roofing, guttering, and siding are some of the improvements included in the project.

URBANA, Ill. – University of Illinois System leaders expressed their appreciation for Gov. JB Pritzker’s and the Illinois General Assembly’s continued support of higher education in the 2025 fiscal year budget approved early Wednesday.
