Carmen Llopis Fabra Remains in National Rankings Ahead of Regular Season Finale
Illinois Springfield women's tennis standout Carmen Llopis Fabra continues to earn national recognition, coming in at No. 73 in the latest ITA Division II Singles Rankings released this week.
Llopis Fabra has posted a 7-4 singles record in regular season play this spring, consistently leading the Prairie Stars in competitive matchups. She will carry her national ranking into the final weekend of the regular season, as UIS faces Indianapolis on Friday and McKendree on Saturday.
UIS to celebrate National Astronomy Day and host accessible stargazing event May 3-4
The University of Illinois Springfield Astronomy-Physics Program will host two astronomy events the weekend of May 3-4, offering the public an opportunity to explore the night sky. The first event will be held in celebration of National Astronomy Day. The second is an accessible star party designed for individuals with limited mobility.
UIS Good as Gold awards honor more than 40 community volunteers and organizations
The University of Illinois Springfield, Junior League of Springfield and the United Way of Central Illinois honored more than 40 Sangamon County volunteers, businesses and organizations during the 17th annual Good as Gold Ceremony on April 21, 2025, in the UIS Student Union.
The Good as Gold Ceremony was started in 2008 to honor people, businesses and organizations who freely give their time and talents to make Sangamon County a better place to live.
