Laura Hecht has been named the University of Illinois Springfield Employee of the Month for June 2023. She is a customer service representative for UIS Residence Life.

In her role, Hecht works at the Residence Life front desk making sure all aspects of the office function properly. She is often the first point of contact for prospective and current students, often helping to shepherd them through the housing application and room selection process.

Travis Bland has been named the new interim dean of the University of Illinois Springfield College of Health, Science and Technology. He will serve as interim dean-designate until formal approval by the Board of Trustees. He is expected to start his new role on July 1.

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present 鈥淕emstones,鈥� a group exhibition that features an accomplished roster of local, regional and national artists that have also served as donors to the gallery. The exhibition will open with a free public reception from 5:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, and will run through Thursday, July 27.
