How do I register for New Student Orientation?
Visit your UIS Admission Status page and click'Orientation特ign up is Open'. You will use the login and password from your UIS Admissions application to login to the registration form. For any questions or concerns call 217-206-8181 or emailUISOrientation@uis.edu.
Do I have to attend orientation?
Yes, new first-year students are required to attend, including Freshman Transfer students (less than 30 credit hours accepted by UIS). Orientation is a vital part in the transition to college. The information that is presented lays a foundation for your future success at UIS.
If I drop courses during the semester, how does that impact my financial aid?

Adding or dropping courses can affect your aid eligibility. You should contact a financial aid counselor before adding or dropping courses.

Is financial aid available during the summer?

Yes, financial aid is available during the summer. An undergraduate student must be enrolled in at least half-time (6 credit-hours) to be eligible for Pell grant and Direct loans. For a graduate student they must be enrolled in at least half-time (three credit-hours) to be eligible for Direct loans during the summer semester.

Will someone from Financial Assistance be at orientation to answer questions/concerns?
We strongly encourage students and their parents/guardian meet with the students financial assistance counselor to review the financial offer notification and cost of attendance before or after their orientation date. The Office of Financial Assistance can meet with the student and parents virtually by appointment (). Contact their office to arrange a meeting: Phone: (217) 206-6724 or Email: finaid@uis.edu. Do not make any appointments on the Orientation date the student registered for. The student will have mandatory programming to attend the whole day.
Will I be able to tour the campus/housing facilities during orientation?
Yes. It is built into the orientation schedule for students to get to see a bunch of different parts of campus. We are offering tours of campus and campus housing virtually.
My electronic transcript hasnt been received. What are my options?
Electronic transcripts should be delivered within one full business day following the submission of the request. If it has not been received within that window, please contact our office and please be ready to provide your order number.
My paper transcript hasnt arrived yet. What are my options?
If the transcript was sent directly to a third party (e.g., university, employer), we can send a duplicate copy at no charge if two weeks have passed since the first copy was sent. If the transcript was addressed to the student directly, the student will have to submit a new request, including payment. If the first transcript is returned to us as undeliverable, we will refund the student for that copy.
Is there tracking for outgoing UIS transcripts?
Paper transcripts are sent via first class mail and do not include tracking information. Electronic transcripts are sent shortly after they are authorized by our office. If you requested your transcript via the TranscriptsPlus system, notifications will be sent to the email address you provided on the first page of the order form. All requests require a minimum of one full business day to process.
How do I view my unofficial transcript?
UIS does not issue printed unofficial transcripts. If you still have access to your UIS account, you may log into Student Self-Service (), go to Home Page, and then View Academic History. On that screen, you should be able to view/print your unofficial transcript. Please be aware that the View Academic History option will not be available if the student has outstanding holds. If you no longer have access to your student account (which is generally deactivated one year after your last date of attendance), an unofficial transcript is not an option. You may request an official transcript for yourself, which you can then duplicate and save for future use.
