Tuition Assistance for Army Personnel

The Tuition Assistance (TA) program provides financial assistance for voluntary off-duty education programs in support of a Soldier's professional and personal self-development goals. TA is available for courses that are offered in the classroom or by distance learning and is part of an approved academic 69蹤獲app or certificate program. The courses must be offered by schools that are registered in ArmyIgnitED, are accredited by accrediting agencies that are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and are signatories to the current Department of Defense Memorandum of Understanding (DOD MOU).
If you are currently serving in the Army, US Army Reserves, or Army National Guard then you are most likely eligible.
Covered Cost
- $4,000 per fiscal year (October 1st, through September 30th)
- $250 per semester credit hour or $166 per quarter credit hour
- Max 130 semester hours of undergraduate credit or baccalaureate 69蹤獲app
- Max 39 semester hours of graduate credit or masters 69蹤獲app

Application Process
- Create a ArmyIgnitED account to request Tuition Assistance if you are in the Army, US Army Reserve, or Army National Guard.
- Approval for TA must be acquired before enrollment.
- Plan to request TA as soon as possible to avoid issues.
University Requirements
- Complete all steps required above to receive authorization.
- Submit the Tuition Assistance Authorization form to the Office of Financial Assistance prior to start of course along with your Request for Veterans Benefits form (accessible on the UIS Financial Aid's forms page).
