DEI Course Design Rubric with developers from University of California System

Over the past two years, a working group of the University of California Instructional Design and Faculty Support (IDFS) community of practice has developed a DEI Course Redesign Rubric. The goal is to share the rubric with as many faculty and instructional designers as possible across higher education, so as to foster thoughtful dialogue and careful, DEI-informed improvements to courses and to teaching and learning. - (Educause March 13, 2023)

Central Illinois Nonprofit Resource Center - Prospect Research Workshop

Discover how to find potential funders for nonprofits in this introductory workshop. The session will provide a brief overview of Forefront Library's Online Research guides, the basics of prospect research, using your library's resources and freely available tools to supplement your grant search, and a deeper look at Candid's database, The Foundation Directory Online (FDO).

Join colleagues from across central Illinois for this workshop during which Professor Michael Gillespie will present guidelines for faculty who are interested in making course content more diverse, equitable, and inclusive and/or diversifying course content. The presentation will focus on ways instructors can provide a more comprehensive understanding of their subject matter, increase empathy, improve communication and teamwork skills, and validate their students’ experiences.

Join colleagues from across central Illinois for this session during which we will hear about the Google Earth platform. The Google Earth platform is a giant 3D rendering of planet Earth. It combines satellite imagery with photos taken on the ground, allowing for both aerial and ground-level views from all over the world. In this session, we will learn how Google Earth can be used in both face-to-face and online classes.

Join COLRS staff to learn about navigating the Canvas interface and the foundational tools for organizing and building a course at UIS. Topics covered include: navigating, communicating with students, creating modules and assignments, and gradebook.
