Lunch at the Lake

Did you know that UIS has a field station located on Lake Springfield just steps away from campus? Well, now you do! Bring your lunch and join us for lawn games, canoeing or a field station lab tour on July 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Spend your lunch hour getting to know this hidden gem and all that this space has to offer! Cookies will also be provided.

The Field Station is located at9 Club Area, Springfield, IL 62712.

Employee Development Series: Timekeeping

The Office of Human Resources is pleased to announce the next installment of the Employee Development Series: Timekeeping. This session will be held virtually on June 24from 9 to 10:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend this session. Systems that we will be discussing and demonstrating are as follows: VSL, AVSL, FLRS, Timesheets (Banner Self-Service). Speakers will also be covering the time-entry process specific to leaves, as well as establishing time reporting procedures within your office.

Please finalize your evaluations and submit them to our office using the evaluation form found on our Performance Evaluation Program webpage. Nomination Forms Available for CSAC Election

CSACprovides a communication link between Civil Service employees, the Director of Human Resources, the Chancellor, campus-wide, university-wide, and state-wide groups. All status (non-probationary) Civil Service employees are invited to submit online nomination forms for this year's Civil Service Advisory Council (CSAC) election.

This is an annual reminder that your employees may be eligible to participate in an alternative or flexible work schedule, operations permitting, in accordance with applicable policies, rules, and collective bargaining agreements.

The alternative or flexible work schedules for Summer 2025 have a window between 05/11/2025 and 08/16/2025.

The May 2025 UIS Human Resources Newsletter highlights two key updates: the Protection of Minors Event Form is now fully online, streamlining submissions directly to HR with contact support from Paige Lavin, and an upcoming Employee Development Series session titled Discussing Implicit Bias, scheduled for May 29, 2025. This in-person training, led by Ray Rodriguez, will focus on recognizing and addressing interpersonal bias in the workplace, emphasizing the roles of ethics, equity, and culture.
