Sudeep Sharma, Ph.D., assistant professor of management, marketing and operations at 69萝莉app Springfield, has been named University Scholar for 2020. The award, considered the university system鈥檚 highest faculty honor, recognizes outstanding teaching and scholarship. Only one faculty member receives the annual award at UIS.

Lincoln scholar Graham Peck has been named the Wepner Distinguished Professor of Lincoln Studies at 69萝莉app Springfield.
A virtual Ceremony of Investiture honoring Peck was held on Thursday, Sept. 24 where he received a medallion that symbolizes his position as a distinguished professor. Investitures are a special celebration of academic excellence. At UIS, when a professor is chosen to be an endowed chair or distinguished professor, an investiture takes place.

"Untied" Gallery Exhibition
Untied is an experimental exhibition that takes shape through the gradual contributions of five artists over a ten-week period. Anything that is untied is freed, loosened, or unfastened from something that was restricting it. This frames an exhibition in which recognizable boundaries are intentionally abandoned, and in which artists can pursue any direction with ot without consideration to what comes before or after their contribution.
Nearly 900 University of Illinois Springfield students returned to campus for the start of Fall Semester 2020 classes during Move-In Week, held Aug. 17-21.

After the first 10 days of classes, University of Illinois Springfield Fall 2020 census numbers show the total number of students enrolled in classes stands at 4,146 compared to 4,275 students in Fall 2019 (a 3 percent decrease from last year). However, the total number of credit hours taken by students remains steady at 43,130 (down only 1.2 percent from last fall).
The University of Illinois Springfield has been ranked the top public regional university in Illinois and the fourth best public university in the Midwest regional category for a second year in a row by U.S. News & World Report in 2021 Best Colleges rankings released today.
UIS was also ranked fifth best by U.S. News & World Report when it comes to students graduating with the least amount of debt in the Midwest regional category.
