Fueled by Esteban Hernandez's strong start on the mound and two home runs from Ivan Dahlberg, the Prairie Stars moved on in the winner's bracket.
The Illinois Springfield women's golf team wrapped up its 2024-25 season on Wednesday at the NCAA Division II East Regional, finishing 17th out of 18 teams. Elaine Grant led the Prairie Stars individually, tying for 11th overall.
The day began with tight competition around the top five teams鈥攑ositions that would ultimately decide both team qualifiers and which individuals not on advancing teams would earn bids to nationals.

The Illinois Springfield baseball team has secured the No. 2 seed in the 2024 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championship Tournament and will face seventh-seeded Missouri S&T in the opening round on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in Marion, Ill. The matchup is game three of the tournament, hosted for the third straight year at Mountain Dew Park.
A win would advance UIS to Thursday's 4:00 p.m. game, while a loss would place them in the tournament's first elimination game at 9:00 a.m. Thursday.

The Illinois Springfield men's track and field team competed at the GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships from Thursday through Saturday, totaling 10 points to finish 13th of 14 teams. The Prairie Stars scored in four of the five distance events they contested.
